The Los Angeles Angels are put in a tight spot a little over a week before the All-Star Game after their stars suffered injuries in their last game against the San Diego Padres.

The Angels will have to deal with their next games without Mike Trout. The star pitcher contracted a hamate fracture in his left wrist while fouling off a pitch.

Trout was previously announced as part of the All-Star festivities in Seattle, his 11th selection.

"It doesn't feel great. I mean, there's no two ways to it," he told reporters after the game.

"I can't describe the pain I felt. I never felt it before, ever, before this. I never had wrist problems or anything. Just freak things."

Trout insisted, though, that he expects to finish the season. However, he is out of the All-Star Game and will be replaced by outfielder Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros.

Shohei Ohtani not 100 percent, too

Another Angels All-Star who went down with an injury is Shohei Ohtani, who was forced to exit the Padres game with a blister after the sixth inning.

While Trout is confirmed to be out for a foreseeable time, Ohtani's case is different. Fans can hope the two-way player will return soon or be used only in a limited role.

The Japanese sensation said he would not pitch in the next few games.

"When I came out of the game I was kind of in the moment, so we will see about going forward the next few days," Ohtani said.

"On the pitching side, I have like nine, 10 days until the next start so hopefully I will heal in time."
