Chelsea are embarking on a new age, and they tapped Mauricio Pochettino to lead them.

Pochettino, for his part, is excited about his new gig. He is so excited he must have forgotten that he used to manage a team regarded as the fiercest rival of the Blues.

"In the last 10, 12, 15 years, Chelsea is the greatest team in England," the Argentine told BBC.

"I know very well the Premier League and what the culture of Chelsea means. I think our fans are excited to again be on the road of trying to win."

Pochettino, who last managed PSG and won Ligue 1 and Coupe de France, was also a former manager of Tottenham.

The Spurs and Blues figure in intense matches in the Premier League every season in what is dubbed the North West London Derby.

Was it a ridiculous claim or not? Chelsea have won six international trophies in the last 15 years. However, Manchester City have their numbers if the discussion centers around most Premier League wins in the same period.

Tottenham fans feel betrayed

Those comments, of course, did not sit well with Tottenham fans. One was quoted by The Suns saying:

"You say they're one of the biggest teams in the world. You don't use the word 'greatest' specifically referencing a time period where you passionately led their rivals."

Some podcasters thought his words were a little inconsiderate.

Another from Twitter reacted by citing down the numbers.

Another seemingly called him a snake.
