Edwards was thankful for the new deal.
"I'm humbled, appreciative and excited to remain in Minnesota as part of this incredible Timberwolves organization," Edwards said in a statement. "It's amazing to see where hard work can take you."
This move suggests that Minnesota is taking a new route and are now building the team around ANT, whose former cornerstone was Karl Anthony Towns.

Edwards was drafted by the Wolves in 2020 as its first overall pick. He made his first All-Star appearance last season.
He showed how he is up there with the league's best by showing out in the postseason during a first-round match against the Denver Nuggets and averaging 31.6 points per game.
KAT is happy for ANT
Towns is among the people eagerly anticipating Ant's max deal as he was among the first to react to the news. The 27-year-old center tweeted with money bag emoji to celebrate the occasion.

KAT recently signed a $224 million super-max contract extension that will keep him on the team until the 2027-2028 season.
NBA fans also think the new contract is well-deserved. One even said that this max contract is a "bargain" because of Ant's quality as a player.
Another congratulated the Wolves for making the right decision despite their questionable moves in the past years.
