Storm's not yet over for Ja Morant as the lawsuit filed against him by a kid claiming he assaulted him has yet to be settled.

The incident was overshadowed by the Memphis Grizzlies star's gun-toting incidents; the last one concluded with a 25-game suspension for the next season.

Morant's camp is seeking dismissal of the assault lawsuit filed by teenager Joshua Holloway, claiming that the high-flying NBA star hit him with the ball in the player's house in Tennessee in July last year.

The 2019 2nd overall draft pick claimed he acted in self-defense when he punched the plaintiff who threw the ball at him.

Through a legal document released online, his counsel also argued that under Tennessee laws, the defendant has no duty to retreat before using force since he is "in a place where he has a right to be and is not in the process of committing a crime."

No charges have been filed, but the Shelby County Sheriff's Office opened two investigative files related to the incident.

What went down in July 2022

Holloway was playing a pick-up game at Morant's house in July last year and claimed that the defendant punched him. The NBA player even flashed a gun at him, he said.

The teen complainant said he is an aspiring basketball player and insists that Morant should know, of all people, that getting assaulted could lead to a career-ending injury.

Morant said he is the victim of slander, battery, and assault and that Holloway's claims could hurt his image and financial standing.
