Phillies: Bryce Harper Unbothered by Homer Drought, Says 'Power Will Come'

The Philadelphia Phillies are steady in their last 16 games, having lost only three times, but some fans think they can be better in the next games if only Bryce Harper gets back his mojo.

The two-time NL MVP has been on a slump lately, not hitting a homer since May 25 or a total of 21 games.

This is the third-longest homer drought in Harper's career, but to him, there is nothing to be worried about.

"I've just got to stay the course, right?" Harper said.

"I can't try to do it because if I try to do it, then I'm going to punch out and not get on base. I've got to take my walks. I've got to keep getting on base and have good days. I've never really struggled with power in my career, I can say."

"It's not me talking great about myself, but I just feel like the power will come, those numbers will come. But again, I can't try to do that. If I try to do it, then it's just not going to be good."

He added that the power would just eventually come and not force himself.

Braves exposed Phillies?

Harper might need to get over his slump quickly as the Phillies were beaten again by Atlanta Braves on Wednesday, essentially sweeping them.

A publication even tagged the Philadelphia team as "pretenders" after this recent loss. The match ended 1-5.

This is Phillies' second straight loss, and next for them is the New York Mets, who are right below them in the NL East standings.
