Victor Wembanyama is officially a Spur.

The San Antonio Spurs have selected the French unicorn as its No. 1 pick in the 2023 NBA draft.

This is the Texas-based team's first pick since 1997 when they selected Tim Duncan, who ended up with five championships.

The Spurs released a welcome video featuring their new rookie's highlights from European leagues to celebrate the occasion.

The video includes clips of the player's out-of-this-world moves that earned him the tag "Unicorn."

Fans are excited for their new player who will play under Gregg Popovich, just like Duncan. Some players in the venue displayed their Wembanyama memorabilia, while another had Victor's image carved on his hair.

Victor is excited to play for the Spurs

Wembanyama witnessed the draft lottery last month, monitoring who will be the team to get the top pick. He was confident he would be the consensus no. 1 player in this year's draft.

"I can't really describe it. My heart's beating," the 19-year-old told ESPN.

"I've got everyone I love around me. It's a really special moment that I'm going to remember for the rest of my life."

He expressed greater joy when he found out that the Spurs got the first pick, alluding to the identity of Popovich basketball.

"I'm a team player. I'm going to make everything to win as many games as I can. I'm trying to win a ring ASAP-so be ready," Wembanyama added.

The Spurs have not been to the playoffs since 2018. It will be exciting times for the club and the fans with Wembanyama in tow.
