The end of PG-Kawhi could be the New York Knicks' gain. That is if the Madison Square team takes the offer of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Knicks reporter Ian Begley has revealed that Knicks and Clippers have made contact regarding the movement of Paul George.

However, "Clippers' willingness to trade George at this point is unknown."

PG joined the Clips with two-time Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard with a "win now" in mind, but the partnership never yielded any results, with the duo contracting injury from time to time, including in the playoffs.

George continues to be a star-level player despite the injuries. He was selected as an All-Star season, averaging 23.8 points per game, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists.

News of PG being available in the market first surfaced last week. Marc Stein said the Clips are "attempting to gauge Paul George's trade value and, to hear some describe it, giving real consideration to the idea of disassembling the Kawhi Leonard/George tandem."

Do the Knicks have enough to offer for PG?

The Knicks have plenty of players to offer to the Clippers for this situation. However, if they want someone that can support Kawhi to contend for a championship, this is where it gets tricky.

Jalen Brunson, for sure, is off-limits.

PG will make $45.6 million next season. This means New York needs to discard at least $41.3 million in player salaries.

The Knicks can only acquire PG through a trade of some players like Even Fournier, who no longer saw minutes last season, Obi Toppin, and first-round draft picks.
