Damian Lillard has a different take on the NBA age, where players have more say on where their careers will go.

The Portland Trailblazers star thinks player empowerment has a bad side. This is the reason why he refuses to participate in such a scheme.

"I try not to be a part of the player empowerment because we've seen enough situations where guys who were at their peak and at the top of their game had that power and influence, and when they weren't at that level anymore or the back end, people remember that," the seven-time All-Star said during a sit down with HoopsHype.

Lillard did not name anyone, but he hopes such cases will be a learning lesson for players today.

"It can affect you towards the end of your career when you might feel disrespected or dealt with in a way that doesn't represent the kind of career you had," he said.

"I think in this era, you've got to be careful how you handle that position."

Leaving His Future to Blazers Management

Such comments by Dame Dolla leave fans thinking he will stay with his team of 11 years.

This became easier to connect after Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Portland has shut down any inquiries for their clutch point guard.

This is just around a week after Lillard expressed the desire to play for a team that can contend for the title and that he no longer wants to go to another rebuilding era.

Blazers have the no.3 pick for the 2023 draft, but it is now unlikely they will trade for an All-Star after recent developments.
