Sergio Busquets Will Be a Designated Player Signing
Busquets' signing will fall under the designated player rule, according to Inter Miami insider Franco Panizo.
The designated player rule is informally known as the David Beckham Rule after the Inter Miami co-owner was the first player to benefit from it when he joined the LA Galaxy in 2007.
The regulation was created for teams to acquire and pay higher wages to select players outside the salary cap. This is in anticipation of MLS clubs signing internationally recognized players, such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Chicharito.
Lionel Messi and Sergio Busquets may not be the only players to arrive in South Beach in this transfer window, as Panizo added that Inter Miami could execute as many as five signings this summer, which could also mean some outgoing moves.
