A point guard remains high on the priority list of the Los Angeles Lakers this summer, and they might get one who is among the most coveted this upcoming season.

Chris Paul's time with the Phoenix Suns is almost at an end after the Arizona team expressed intent to waive the 38-year-old point guard.

The Lakers can swoop in once CP3 is officially waived, according to Jovan Buha of The Athletic. He said the Purple and Gold might entertain the idea of having both Paul and D'Angelo Russell.

"Signing Paul to a veteran's minimum contract would allow the Lakers to use one of their exceptions on another player to bolster their depth," he wrote.

Another strong indication that Paul might land in Hollywood is that his family lives in Los Angeles, and he is part of the Lebron James Banana Boat crew.

The Lakers PG position is a top mission for the team, as it was pointed out by many as the hole in their lineup when they played the eventual champs Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Finals.

Russell became "sort of" unplayable in the series after expressing a desire to continue playing as a starter. This was unproductive for the Lakers that the team got swept by Jokic and company.

CP3 has a $15.8 million partial guarantee on his $30.8 million for the 2023-2024 season. The future Hall of Fame inductee remains adamant that he is still at his peak and "plans to play several more years and is eager to help a team contend for a championship."

Although he already said he wanted to remain a Sun, which is expected to contend with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker, a return might be unlikely.

A partnership with James might just be the perfect destination for him.
