Shooting guard Tyler Herro has missed most of the Miami Heat's improbable playoff run after suffering a right-hand injury during Game 1 of their first-round series against the Milwaukee Bucks.
He sustained the injury after diving for a loose ball during the final minute of the second quarter of that game, landing on his hand. Herro still managed to attempt a right corner three after the injury, but the shot was way off.
Heat's Tyler Herro Injury Status
According to the Miami Heat, Herro underwent successful open reduction and internal fixation surgery of the third and fourth metacarpal of his right hand.
He was expected to be out of action for at least six weeks.
With the Miami Heat making this year's NBA Finals, Herro has already ramped out his workouts and physical activity in preparation for basketball's biggest stage.
The 6-foot-5 shooting guard is expected to return to the lineup at some point during the Finals, with Game 3 being the targeted game for his return, according to Chris Haynes of TNT and Bleacher Report.
Game 3 of the 2023 NBA Finals will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida.
Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 67 appearances during the 2022-23 regular season. He also led the league in free throw percentage, shooting 93.4% from the line.
