A terrifying incident occurred in the annual Indianapolis 500 motor race in the 186th lap on Sunday afternoon.
With nearly ten laps remaining in the Memorial Day weekend race, Arrow McLaren's Felix Rosenqvist hit the outside wall, spinning over to the other side of the track. Andretti Autosports' Kyle Kirkwood was passing by, and he tried to stay out of the way of Rosenqvist's out-of-control car, according to an article by USA Today.

Terrifying Car Crash in Indy 500 Sends Tire Flying
As Kirkwood's pink car passed by, he barely touched the out-of-place McLaren car. However, his left rear tire collided with Rosenqvist's left front, causing the Andretti to lose control and spin upside down.

The impact of the collision caused Kirkwood's left rear tire to fly onto the parking lot outside of the stands. It hit a parked Chevrolet sedan while officials quickly attended to the matter.

"It barely clipped me, it was so close. I thought I made it, and then it just touched, and next thing you know I'm flying at the wall," Kirkwood said.
Indianapolis Motor Speedway President J. Douglas Boles immediately went to the scene to ensure everyone was fine.
Fans on the stand held their collective breaths as the tire went flying. No one was harmed in the incident, and both drivers were okay, per ESPN.
