Three-time First team All-Pro DeAndre Hopkins was released from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday, as per the team.

The star receiver was looking to be traded by the franchise, but they could not find a suitable partner for the transaction after weeks of speculation.

Cardinals Rebuilding With New Coach, General Manager

The Cardinals have been trying to trade Hopkins for weeks, although the player never publicly said he wanted to leave.

The five-time Pro Bowl selection was asked in the I AM ATHLETE podcast earlier this week about what he was looking for in a team.

Hopkins said he wants stable management upstairs, which he hadn't had the past couple of years, coming from Houston and then to Arizona.

"A QB who loves the game, a QB who brings everybody on board with him, not just himself but everybody around him ... and a great defense. A great defense wins championships," he added.

The 30-year-old believed that the Cardinals had all three onboard.

Under new coach Jonathan Gannon and general manager Monti Ossenfort, the franchise is set for a rebuild soon, according to an article by the NY Post.

Hopkins was suspended for the first six games of the 2022 NFL season due to violating the league's PED policy. However, he still appeared for nine games, finishing with 64 receptions for 717 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
