No Agreement Between Bob Myers and Warriors Yet
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski previously reported that Myers will take a couple of weeks off to think about his decision. His contract with Golden State expires on June 30.
Both sides have exchanged counter-offers for months now, but talks for a new deal have stalled. The Warriors have yet to make a proposal convincing enough for Myers to stay.
The builder of four NBA championship rosters for the past nine seasons received offers with private equity funds and roles within other professional sports leagues.
Myers, who also serves as the team's president of basketball operations, seeks to become the highest-compensated executive in the NBA. But even that may not be enough to lure him to stay in San Francisco due to other enticing prepositions on the table.
The long-time general manager is expected to announce his decision in a few weeks, with his relationship with the Warriors' core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and head coach Steve Kerr among his considerations in making a choice.
Mike Dunleavy Jr., the Warriors' vice president of basketball operations, represented the team as general manager in meetings held in Chicago this week.
Dunleavy Jr. played for the team from 2002 to 2007 and has stood for Myers in various meetings for the past year. He is one of the candidates for the high-pressure job.
