Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant issued a statement Tuesday night following backlash after flashing a gun for the second time on Instagram Live last Sunday afternoon.

Ja Morant Apologizes, Vows to Work On Himself

The 23-year-old apologized via a statement sent to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. The two-time All-Star knows that he disappointed many of his supporters, and he realizes there is "more work to do."

Morant also admitted that his words may not mean much for now because this is his second apology in two months. Nevertheless, he assured his accountability for his actions.

The 2020 NBA Rookie of the Year finished the statement by committing to continue working on himself.

Due to the incident, the electrifying guard could face a lengthy suspension and a hefty financial hit next season.

Morant, the NBA's Most Improved player in 2022, was suspended for eight games without pay for the first incident, resulting in a $669,000 loss in salary.

NBA commissioner Adam Silver has expressed his shock with the alleged video, saying he was "assuming the worst" after talking to Morant directly during the first incident.

The league is currently investigating the incident before deciding on Morant. The Memphis Grizzlies have already suspended Morant from all team activities, effective immediately.

Former NBA player and All-Star Dwight Howard has invited Morant to play with him in Taiwan, although this is a bleak possibility.
