Phoenix Suns team governor Matt Ishbia thanked fans worldwide following his squad's disastrous postseason exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.

Suns Owner Mat Ishbia Thanks Fans

Ishbia, the youngest controlling owner in the league, was grateful for the welcome he and his family received during their first season as owners of the franchise.

The 43-year-old billionaire acquired the team in December 2022 from Robert Sarver, who had a tumultuous tenure.

Ishbia also urged fans to support the Phoenix Mercury this summer, the Suns' WNBA counterpart that he also owns.

The Suns owner was a former walk-on player for Michigan State under Tom Izzo, where he was part of the roster that won the NCAA Division 1 men's basketball national championship in 2000.

Ishbia, who is the CEO and chairman of mortgage lender United Wholesale Mortgage, grabbed headlines recently after inadvertently being pushed by two-time MVP Nikola Jokic during a dead ball situation in Game 4, causing him to fall back on his seat.

Ishbia and Jokic eventually appeared to have reconciled before the start of Game 5, with the Serbian center tossing the Suns owner a basketball in a friendly manner.

Following their embarrassing playoff exit, various offseason moves are looming for the Suns, as problems with their depth were magnified in the playoffs, with the injuries of starters Chris Paul and Deandre Ayton severely affecting the team.
