Reigning Super Bowl champions Kansas City Chiefs' schedule for the 2023 NFL season has been released, with their title defense kicking off against the Detroit Lions on September 7.

Clashes against the Philadelphia Eagles, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills were among the Chiefs' season-opener options.

Chiefs Title Defense On Full Swing

The Chiefs and the Lions last faced off in September 2019, with Mahomes and company barely squeaking by via a late Darrel Williams 1-yard touchdown in a thrilling game, 34-30.

One of the early season games for the Chiefs will be against the New York Jets on Week 4, October 1. The Jets recently acquired future Hall-of-Famer and four-time NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers.

Other marquee matchups for the Chiefs include a Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles on Week 11, November 20, via Monday Night Football.

Kansas City is also slated to have a divisional clash in a Christmas game this year against the Las Vegas Raiders, one of their bitter rivals.

In their penultimate regular season game, the Chiefs will battle during New Year's Eve against the Cincinnati Bengals, the team they defeated during the 2022 AFC Championship Game, to get to the Super Bowl. The two teams also faced off the previous year in the same game, with the Bengals winning, creating an intense rivalry.

The 2023 NFL regular season begins on September 7 and will conclude on January 7, 2024.
