The Sacramento Kings hired Mike Brown as head coach in May with the goal of ending the team's 17-year playoff drought, and he accomplished this by leading them to the playoffs.

Mike Brown, First Unanimous Winner in NBA History

Brown has been named the NBA's Coach of the Year, becoming the first unanimous winner in NBA history after receiving votes from 100 media members.

Brown, who previously won the award in 2009, has four NBA championship rings and has coached the Los Angeles Lakers and Cleveland Cavaliers.

Despite his reputation for prioritizing defense, Brown's Kings team has become one of the most efficient offensive teams in NBA history, scoring a league-best 118.6 points per 100 possessions in the regular season. The team is currently up 2-0 in a first-round playoff series against the Golden State Warriors.

Brown's leadership has been on display throughout the season - with his ejection from a game against the Toronto Raptors in December ultimately leading to a Kings victory and showcasing the team's spirit.

The Kings have also earned respect from opponents and fans, with the team seeing its first pair of All-Stars since 2004 in Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox.

Brown created an "All-In" contract before the beginning of the season to guarantee that everyone on the team shared a common understanding of the standards for a successful culture. Early on, he also made it clear that he was willing to lead by example, demanding a faster practice pace and doing pushups during training camp.

As the Kings continue their playoff journey, Brown has expressed his high expectations for the team, saying, "We're trying to win a championship like everybody else."
