Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green has been suspended for Game 3 of the NBA Playoffs against the Sacramento Kings. The decision came following his stomping incident on Domantas Sabonis on Monday.

In a statement, the league explained that the decision to suspend Green is due in part to his history of committing such unsportsmanlike gestures.

Warriors Star Draymond Green Suspended

For those who missed it, Green stomped on Sabonis' chest midway through the fourth quarter of Game 2 after they got entangled during a play. When Sabonis fell, he accidentally grabbed Green's legs. In response, Dray quickly pulled out his right leg and stepped on the chest of the Kings big man.

Sabonis writhed in pain after that. Following the contest, he also had to undergo some X-rays to determine if he sustained injuries on his ribs and lungs.

Here's a part of the statement from the NBA:

"Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been suspended one game without pay for stepping on the chest of Sacramento Kings center Domantas Sabonis, it was announced today by Joe Dumars, Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations. The suspension was based in part on Green's history of unsportsmanlike acts.

"Green's actions were in response to Sabonis grabbing and holding Green's right ankle after falling to the floor. Green received a Flagrant Foul 2 and was ejected, and Sabonis was assessed a technical foul."

The Warriors have yet to comment on the NBA's decision, though it is definitely not a good thing for the Dubs. There were expectations that Green would be able to avoid a suspension, but clearly, the league sees his actions as excessive.

Warriors vs. Kings Game 3

The Warriors could find themselves in serious trouble with Green set to miss Game 3. To recall, back in Game 5 of the 2016 NBA Finals when Green was suspended following a flagrant foul on LeBron James, the Dubs saw themselves blowing out a 3-1 lead and losing the title.

Golden State is now down 2-0 to the Kings, and while they will be at home, it'll definitely be difficult to win without their defensive anchor and heart and soul in Green.

The Warriors-Kings Game 3 is scheduled on Thursday at the Chase Center.
