This coming Sunday, two powerhouse NFC teams will go head-to-head as the red-hot Dallas Cowboys host the reeling Arizona Cardinals in a Week 17 clash at the AT&T Stadium. Can the Cowboys keep their momentum going against the Cardinals, or will Arizona finally end its losing rut in this heavyweight clash. Here's a preview of the Cardinals vs Cowboys matchup.

Arizona Cardinals installed as +5.5 underdogs

Arizona's losing woes show no sign of ending as the Cardinals crashed to their third consecutive defeat with a 22-16 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Christmas Day. The Cards have now lost five of their past eight games since starting the season with seven straight wins.

It was a costly result for the Cardinals, who dropped to second place in the NFC West with the defeat. They now trail the Los Angeles Rams by one game heading into the final two weeks of the regular season. The good news for the Cardinals is that even with their string of defeats, they still managed to clinch a spot in the playoffs after the Week 16 games.

The Cardinals will look to get their season back on track this Sunday when they travel to Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys. For Arizona to snap its losing skid against Dallas, the Cardinals will need to get a solid showing from quarterback Kyler Murray. He completed 27 of 43 passes for 245 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions in the loss to the Colts.

The Cardinals will fancy their chances of grabbing the upset win in Dallas as they have fared extremely well on the road this season. Arizona has won seven of its eight away games this campaign. The Cardinals will be tested, though, by a Dallas team that is 5-2 at AT&T Stadium in 2021.

Dallas Cowboys enter Week 17 as -5.5 favorites

The Dallas Cowboys clinched the NFC East title for the first time since 2018 with a commanding 56-14 victory over the Washington Football Team in Week 16. It was a huge victory for the Cowboys, who maintained their No. 2 ranking in the NFC standings.

The Cowboys produced an offensive masterclass in the primetime game with their 56-point output tying for the third most in franchise history. It was the highest scoring performance by the Cowboys in a regular season game since 1980. The last time Dallas breached the 50-point mark in a game was back in 1992 when they faced the Buffalo Bills in Super Bowl XXVII.

Powering Dallas' offensive explosion in Week 16 was Dak Prescott. He completed 28 of 39 passes for 330 yards with four touchdowns and no interceptions in the win against Washington. Prescott did most of his damage in the opening half, throwing for an NFL-high 322 yards during that period. All of Prescott's four touchdown passes came in the first two quarters.

Prescott made history with that performance as he became the first quarterback in the NFL to record a touchdown pass to a wide receiver (Amari Cooper), tight end (Dalton Schultz), offensive lineman (Terence Steele), and running back (Ezekiel Elliott) in the same regular-season game.

Writer's Prediction

Dallas wins and covers the spread.
