Two struggling teams will lock horns on Thanksgiving Day as the Buffalo Bills square off with the New Orleans Saints in a critical Week 12 showdown. Who will record the much-needed victory in this Bills vs Saints clash?
Buffalo Bills enter Week 12 as -4.5 favorites
Now that was a shock. The Buffalo Bills lost for the third time in five games, suffering a 41-15 defeat at the hands of the Indianapolis Colts. The Bills had no answer for Colts running back Jonathan Taylor, who accounted for five total touchdowns, four of which came on the ground.
It was a disappointing defeat for the Bills, who ceded their advantage atop the AFC East standings, falling a half-game behind division rivals New England Patriots. The Bills have not won consecutive games since the Tennessee Titans snapped their four-game winning streak on October 18.
For the Bills to return to the win column in Week 12, they will need a better showing from starting quarterback Josh Allen. He completed just 21 of 35 passes for 209 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. When he commits a turnover, Allen's record is now 17-17, including 0-2 in the playoffs.
It is crucial for the Bills that they protect the football in the game against the Saints. The Bills were sloppy in the loss to the Colts, committing four turnovers, three of which resulted in Colts touchdowns.
New Orleans Saints installed as +4.5 underdogs
Things are going from bad to worse for the New Orleans Saints as they crashed to their third straight defeat with a 40-29 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11. The Saints had difficulty stopping Jalen Hurts, who ran for 69 yards and three touchdowns.
The Saints are now 0-3 since beating the reigning Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8 at Caesars Superdome. They have struggled without Jameis Winston, who suffered a season-ending knee injury in the second quarter of that victory.
New Orleans entered Week 11 with the league's best rushing defense, allowing just 72.9 yards per game on the ground this season. They could not stop Philly's run game, though, with the Eagles racking up 242 yards rushing.
For the Saints to snap their losing skid against the Bills, they will need Trevor Siemian to play outstanding football. He completed 22 of 40 passes for 214 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions in the loss to the Eagles.
The Saints may need to incorporate the passing game more in their offense, with Alvin Kamara sidelined because of a knee injury. He missed his second consecutive game in the loss to the Eagles and is a major doubt for the Week 12 clash. Kamara initially suffered his knee problem during New Orleans' Week 9 loss to the Atlanta Falcons, but he played through the pain.
Kamara is a vital part of the Saints' offense, leading the team in yards from scrimmage (840), touchdowns (7), and receptions (32) this season.
