The Golden State Warriors extended their winning streak to two games with a thrilling 104-89 come-from-behind win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night. Stephen Curry once again starred for the Warriors, who moved 1.5 games clear of the red-hot Phoenix Suns atop the Western Conference standings.
Curry thrills with fourth-quarter scoring barrage
The Warriors looked to be on their way to an embarrassing loss in Cleveland as they trailed the Cavs by 13 points entering the fourth quarter. No lead is safe against the Warriors, though, especially with Curry in scintillating form. He started the final period with three consecutive three-pointers to slice the deficit to four points.
There was no stopping the Warriors after that as they outscored the Cavs 36-8 in the final 12 minutes to turn an 81-68 deficit into a comfortable 15-point win in the end. Curry finished the game with 40 points, 20 of which came in the pivotal fourth quarter. He shot 15 of 27 from the field, including 9 of 16 from beyond the arc.

It marked the 35th time in Curry's career that he recorded a 20-point quarter. He shot 8 of 12 from the floor during that period, and 4 of 7 from deep. Curry knocked down nine three-pointers for the second consecutive game as he is once again making an assault on the record books. Curry is on pace to knock down 450 3-pointers this season, which will smash his previous record of 402 3s for a single season.
He already has 85 3-pointers this season, 51 of which came in just six of his 15 games. Curry can score those long bombs in bunches with Thursday's performance his 38th career game with at least 9 made baskets from 3-point area. What made Curry's performance against the Cavs even more impressive was that he was dealing with a left hip contusion in that contest.
