The Indianapolis Colts bounced back from their gut-wrenching overtime loss to the Tennessee Titans in Week 8 as they destroyed the New York Jets, 45-30, on Thursday Night Football. Jonathan Taylor starred for the Colts, who moved to within 2.5 games of leaders Tennessee in the AFC South standings.

Taylor wreaks havoc on the ground against the Jets

Taylor was unstoppable on the ground, rushing for 172 yards and two scores, including a game-sealing 78-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that gave Indianapolis a commanding 42-10 lead. Nyheim Hines contributed as well, running for 74 yards and a score on six carries.

The Colts punished the Jets' defensive line all evening long, racking up 260 yards on the ground, the highest single-game rushing total in the league this season.

Carson Wentz had one of his best games as a Colt, completing 22 of 30 passes for 272 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions. He has now thrown multiple touchdown passes in six consecutive games and is 2-0 in his career against the Jets.

It was a disappointing defeat for the Jets, who have now lost their last seven night games. Coach Robert Saleh entered Thursday's showdown with high expectations after his team stunned the AFC-leading Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8.

Mike White injures right forearm in second NFL start

In that come-from-behind 34-31 win, Mike White stole the show, completing 37 of 45 passes for 405 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. White posted a 107.9 rating in that contest as he became the first Jets quarterback to record 400 passing yards in a game since Vinny Testaverde accomplished that feat in 2000.

White was on his way to serving an encore, leading the Jets to a touchdown drive in the first quarter to even the score at 7-7. Unfortunately for White, he injured his right forearm while throwing the game-tying touchdown pass to Elijah Moore. White said that two fingers in his right hand went numb after that throw, forcing him to miss the next three-quarters of play as he could not grip the football.

Josh Johnson made a good account of himself as White's emergency replacement, throwing a career-high 317 yards. Johnson also recorded a career-best three touchdown passes in the final 18 minutes of the game; his first touchdown throws in the NFL since December 22, 2018. He got some help from Moore, who caught seven passes for 84 yards and two touchdowns.

The Jets have fared poorly on the road this season, losing all of their five away games thus far. It won't get any easier for Saleh's men in Week 10 as they will next face the Buffalo Bills at MetLife Stadium. The Colts host the Jacksonville Jaguars that same week in the final game of their three-game homestand.
