Arrowhead Homicide [VIDEO]: Police Investigating Murder At Arrowhead Stadium Following Chiefs, Broncos Game

Police are investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday afternoon at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City during the Chiefs eventual 35-28 loss to the Denver Broncos. According to Yahoo! Sports, one man is dead after an altercation during the game and three more people are in police custody following the incident.

Kansas City police chief Daryl Forte announced the death via twitter and described it as a homicide after a struggle following the game.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Forte later reported that the victim had died in the hospital following an altercation with two other individuals and he also indicated that a fan rivalry wasn't the cause of the struggle between the three parties.

According to KCTV5, a man and his son went to their Jeep during the game about two hours after kickoff and discovered that another man, whom they didn't know, was sitting in their vehicle. According to the report, a struggle between the three men ensued and resulted in the death of one of the men, though the names of the deceased man and the two others in custody have yet to be released.

KCTV5 reports that it was unknown whether or not the man had broken into the vehicle and that investigators were trying to figure out if he happened to sit in the wrong vehicle on accident. Initial reports had indicated that the man was rifling through the vehicle.

The Jeep owner and the man reportedly began to fight as the young son ran to get help. The man who was in the Jeep was found collapsed onto the pavement and eventually was rushed to the hospital where he passed away. According to the report, the man was described as in his mid-20s.

According to KCTV5, officers said there were no other break-ins at Arrowhead Stadium Sunday that they were made aware of.

The report indicates that Kansas City police officer Darrin Snapp said an autopsy will determine what caused the man's death since he wasn't shot or stabbed and there were no signs of serious struggle on his body.

"The main thing we're trying to figure out now is exactly how this person died," Snapp said via KCTV5. "The hospital says there's no obvious signs of how he passed away, so we're still waiting on that. We're going to investigate it as a homicide until we find out exactly how the person died,"

Snapp said that the three people in custody are cooperating and are "persons of interest" while adding that the police are ready to interview witnesses.

"Everyone was very cooperative when we got here," Snapp told KCTV5. "Everyone that we believed was involved is still here and we're talking to them. Right now they're persons of interest. Like I said, until we find out exactly how this person passed away, we're going to investigate it as a homicide. They're not suspects right now until we find out exactly what happened."

The event occurred on just on the one year anniversary of the shocking day that Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher killed Kasandra Perkins, the mother of his infant daughter, before driving to the Arrowhead Stadium parking lot and killing himself in front of team leaders.
