Roger Federer's bid for a record ninth Wimbledon title remained right on track after a thrilling 6-4, 6-4, 5-7, 6-4 win over British no. 2 Cameron Norrie on Centre Court. The Swiss maestro needed two hours and 35 minutes to record the four-set victory; his 1,250th match win in his long and illustrious career.

Federer continues dominance over British opposition

Federer made history with his conquest of Norrie as he reached the fourth round of Wimbledon for the 18th time. That's the most number of appearances by a men's player in the Open Era. Federer has fared well against British opposition here at All-England Club, with his only defeat to a Briton coming against Tim Henman in the quarterfinals in 2001.

Norrie couldn't replicate Henman's exploits against Federer, who blasted 48 winners and seven aces in their third-round match. There will be no British representatives in the second week of the men's singles tournament with Norrie's defeat.

Federer, who improved his record at Wimbledon to an impeccable 104-13 slate, will next face Italian star Lorenzo Sonego. The 23rd seed defeated Australian wild card James Duckworth, 6-3, 6-4, 6-4, to join compatriot Matteo Berrettini in the last 16. Berretini eased into the fourth round with a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Slovenian Aljaz Bedene.

Also making the fourth round is world no. 2 Daniil Medvedev. He battled back from two sets down to stun Marin Cilic, 6-7 (3), 3-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-2, in the round of 32. It was a monumental victory for the Russian, who recorded his first-ever win when trailing by two sets. Medvedev picked the perfect time to accomplish that feat as he reached the fourth round of Wimbledon for the first time in his career.

One guy who will not make it to the second week is Nick Kyrgios. The Australian's campaign came to an abrupt end after being forced to withdraw due to injury in his match against Felix Auger-Aliassime. He injured his abdominal muscle during the latter stages of the first set and was forced to retire after Auger-Aliassime claimed the second set, 6-1.

Auger-Aliassime, one of the rising stars in the ATP Tour, will next face German hotshot Alexander Zverev in the fourth round. Zverev outlasted American Taylor Fritz in the third round, prevailing in four sets, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6 (4).

British star Raducanu extends dream run

In the women's draw, hometown favorite Emma Raducanu continued her fairytale run in the tournament with a stunning 6-3, 7-5 win over Romania's world no. 45 Sorana Cirstea. The 18-year-old wildcard pulled off one of the upsets of the tournament thus far to reach the second week of the Wimbledon tournament.

Raducanu, who is ranked 338th in the world, became the youngest British woman to reach the Wimbledon last 16 in the Open era. Raducanu will look to go one step further when she takes on Australia's Ajla Tomljanovic in the fourth round. Tomljanovic defeated Jelena Ostapenko in three sets in an ill-tempered match in the third round.
