Tragedy struck the golfing community on Saturday as Georgia Section PGA member Gene Siller was fatally shot and killed at Pinetree Country Club, according to reports.

The 41-year-old Siller was on the course near Kennesaw around 2:30 p.m. when he was gunned down by the suspect whose identity is still unknown.

Agency spokeswoman Officer Shenise Barner told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that Siller, a Pinetree Country Club employee, was found unresponsive on the 10th hole green after suffering an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Siller, a married father of two young boys, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police reveal Siller's shooting related to two other deaths

Authorities from the Cobb County Police Department have revealed that they are now also investigating two other deaths related to Siller's untimely passing.

A white Ram 3500 pickup truck was also found on the 10th green. Upon further investigation by the officers at the scene, two other deceased individuals were discovered in the bed of the pickup truck.

Both males suffered the same fate as Siller, dying with apparent gunshot wounds. Paul Pierson, the registered owner of the Ram 3500 truck, was identified as one of the victims. The other male victim has not yet been identified, according to Barner.

Though Barner has said that the police are still in the preliminary stages of the investigation, it appears that the gunman's pickup truck drove onto the Pinetree Country Club course and got stuck in a sand trap, according to several people with knowledge of the situation.

Unfortunately for Siller, he went to the truck to investigate the incident prompting the driver to shoot him probably to cover his previous crimes. A witness told local news station 11 Alive that they heard five gunshots in a row.

The suspect in question remains at large. He was described as a 6-foot-1-tall man with long hair. According to the Police, the male suspect was wearing either a white or tan shirt and dark-colored pants. The Kennesaw State University Emergency Management tweeted that the suspect was last seen on Club Drive headed toward Shiloh Road.

Georgia golf organizations offer condolences to Siller's family

The Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA) and Georgia Pro Golfers Association (GPGA) expressed their sincere condolences online over the fatal and tragic shooting. "All of us at the GSGA are deeply saddened by the tragic events that occurred early today at Pinetree CC. Our thoughts and prayers are with Gene Siller's family and friends," the GSGA said in a tweet.

On the other hand, the Georgia PGA issued a statement Saturday night expressing their sadness regarding the said incident. "Tragedy has stricken the Georgia Section PGA in the loss of our Member, Gene Siller. Thoughts and prayers for his family and the Pinetree Country Club family," the GPGA said.
