Keyontae Johnson is now breathing on his own and is in stable condition.
It was confirmed that Florida Gators' wingman Keyontae Johnson had been showing signs of a quick recovery and has begun talking with his family, doctors, and teammates, his parents said.
The forward's parents Nika and Marrecus Johnson expressed how thankful they are, seeing how their son improved from a scary experience since collapsing in the first half of the Gators-Seminoles match.
Larry DeJarnett, Keyontae Johnson's grandfather, was the one who confirmed that his grandson had been placed in a medically-induced coma.
"They're [the doctors] just not sure. He may have had activity in the brain, so they induced the coma. They put him on medication to keep him sedated," DeJarnett told USA Today.
Keyontae Johnson fell face-first on the floor while players from both teams could only look at him in distress.
Keyontae Johnson's parents revealed that their 21-year-old son even called his teammates via FaceTime on Tuesday. Nika and Marrecus believed that all those people who shared their love and support for their son had helped Keyontae Johnson to recuperate faster than they were expecting.
For the past days, Johnson's parents were beyond grateful for the attention and care that the people gave to him.
USA Today reporters Josh Peters and Tom Schad relayed an update on Tuesday. They said that the 6-foot-5 small forward was starting to respond and follow simple commands.
It was also confirmed by the University of Florida when Keyontae Johnson was transferred to a hospital in Gainsville, Florida. Prior, he was confined at the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital for initial medical treatment.

With a 3-0 start, the Florida Gators jumped on a high note after beating Army Black Knights, Boston College Eagles, and Stetson Hatters. Over the first three games, Keyontae Johnson averaged 19.7 markers, six boards, and 1.3 steals per game.
He was a hot-head from beyond the arc at 50 percent and 76.9 percent from the line while having a 63.9 percent field goal percentage.
Now, Florida Gators have lost six games in-a-row; the latest was against the Florida Seminoles on the day that Johnson collapsed.
However, it will not steer the Gators away from the fact that Keyontae Johnson is more important than winning the game.
