St. Louis has won five games in a row heading into the contest while San Jose are winners of three straight and are tied for the Pacific Division lead with the Anaheim Ducks. The first time these teams met, the Sharks dominated the Blues 6-2 on Oct. 15 in St. Louis.

The Sharks topped the Los Angeles Kings 3-2 in a marathon shootout that went eight rounds their last time out and will look for a fourth straight victory.

"It's always like this against them," center Joe Pavelski said of playing the Kings, according to NHL.com. "They're a good team, they're simple, they play hard, they've got some big bodies. We know it's going to be low-scoring the way they've been playing. It was good to get a lead and play. Guys battled and found a way to win one in the shootout finally."

Pavelski (9-14-23) is in a three-way tie with Patrick Marleau (11-12-23) and Logan Couture (8-15-23) for second on the team in scoring while Joe Thornton (3-22-25) leads the team in points.

The Blues topped the Avalanche 4-1 in Colorado on Wednesday to notch a fifth straight win and will be looking for a sixth win in a row today.

"We are sticking to the way we play," Alex Steen told NHL.com. "Pucks are bouncing our way and we are taking care in our own end and our goaltending has been phenomenal."

Steen is tied for first in the NHL in goals with 20 while adding 10 assists for 30 points. David Backes is second on the team with 24 points off of 11 tallies and 13 assists while T.J. Oshie has found the back of the net four times and added 18 assists for 22 points.

Steen and his teammates will look to best Sharks goalie Antti Niemi, who is 13-3-5 with a 2.15 goals-against average and a .920 save percentage while Jaroslav Halak is 14-3-2 with a 2.14 GAA and a .914 save percentage this season for the Blues.

The Blues look for a sixth straight victory while the Sharks hope to increase their winning streak to four games when the puck drops at the SAP Center today in San Jose.
