Today at 4:00 p.m. ET, the Calgary Flames (8-12-4, 20 points) and Anaheim Ducks (17-7-3, 37 points) square off live from the Honda Center in Anaheim in the second of four meetings this season. The game can be live streamed here. Calgary fans can hear all of the bone-crunching action on Sportsnet 960 while Anaheim fans can do the same on 830 KLAA.
Calgary enters play banged up with injuries while Anaheim will hope to stay afloat atop the Pacific Division with the San Jose Sharks. In their first meeting this season, the Ducks topped the Flames 3-2 on Oct. 16.
Anaheim has lost four of six and is coming off of a 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Dallas Stars. The team announced a three-year contract extension for center Nick Bonino on Thursday.
"This year is a big year for me. And so far, I've felt good," Bonino said per NHL.com. "I'm doing what I can in the [defensive] zone, the [offensive] zone, special teams and in faceoffs. It's stuff like that you know you want to be on and contributing everywhere. That's been a good start."
The Flames are coming off of a loss to the Chicago Blackhawks and lost some key players as rookie Sean Monahan (fractured foot) and defenseman Dennis Wideman (broken left hand) are both sidelined. Monahan is second on the team in scoring with 15 points off of nine goals and six assists. Jiri Hudler (7-16-23) is first in scoring while Mike Cammalleri (9-4-13) is tied for third.
"It is certainly not good news when these things happen," general manager Jay Feaster told reporters, according to NHL.com. "To lose a guy like Dennis Wideman, that's a tough blow for the team. Obviously with the way [Monahan] was playing, he's a tough guy to take out of your lineup."
The Ducks have been led by Ryan Getzlaf, who has a point in eight straight games for a total of 28 points off of 13 goals and 15 assists while Corey Perry has 13 tallies and 13 helpers for 26 points and Dustin Penner has lit the lamp seven times and added 11 assists for 18 points.
In net, Reto Berra is 3-5-2 with a 3.30 goals-against average and a .890 save percentage thus far this season for Calgary while Jonas Hillier is 9-4-2 with a 2.69 GAA and a .904 save percentage for Anaheim.
The Flames look to carry on while dealing with some key injuries and the Ducks hope to keep pace with San Jose when these teams go head-to-head this afternoon in Anaheim.
