Renowned Atlanta Braves broadcasters Chip Caray and Joe Simpson made some strong comments against the players of the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday's batting practice.

Simpson who played for four seasons with the Dodgers in the MLB called his former squad as an embarrassment for wearing T-shirts and shorts during their practice at SunTrust Park. The former Dodgers player also explained that Chase Utley no longer plays the game the right way.

"I think I can say this because I know what the Dodgers organization was all about but if I were a Dodger fan, I'd be embarrassed, and I don't know how Major League Baseball allows such attire when the gates are open," Simpson explained.

Caray also fired shots on Twitter by mocking the wardrobe choices of Dodgers. He also cited that legendary Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully would have liked the team in uniform. Ironically, the Dodgers have been wearing the same BP attire during the final season of Scully with the team in 2016.

In addition, the league has no rule in place that requires athletes to be in uniform during batting practice. During batting practice, players can choose to wear shirts and shorts.

Braves Announcers Made A Mistake

Although Caray and Simpson are entitled to their opinions, it's worth pointing out that Utley's T-shirt was the team's K Cancer T-shirt, which is part of a plethora of designs for all 30 MLB teams including the Braves. Former Braves reliever Jason Motte reiterated that his foundation uses the funds from the shirts to support cancer research.

Additionally, the Dodgers shirt is backed by Enrique Hernandez and plays a crucial role in giving back to the San Juan Children's Hospital. Braves manager Dave Roberts was not happy with Simpson's comments after being asked after the game. The Dodgers went on to beat the Braves 5-1.

Former Dodgers player Jerry Hairston defended the Dodgers' players for wearing T-shirts, citing that there's a lot to worry about the Braves right now. Braves pitcher Brandon McCarthy added that Utley is a perfect example of professionalism in the sport of baseball.

Braves Struggles Continue

Atlanta struggled all game long as they managed to complete a combined total of three hits and eight strikeouts against the Dodgers. Starter Max Fried had two hits on top of one earned run in his five innings of pitching.

The Braves hope to rebound from their loss as they take on the Dodgers on their series finale this Sunday. Interestingly, there will be no batting practice when the two teams collide again since it's a day game.
