Jeremy Lin Out Two Weeks For Houston Rockets With Knee Sprain [VIDEO]

Houston Rockets guard Jeremy Lin is expected to miss at least two weeks with a grade-one right knee sprain, according to SBNation.com.

The website reports Lin suffered the injury during the first quarter of Wednesday night's game against the Atlanta Hawks when he collided with forward Paul Millsap after playing just four minutes in the Rockets 113-84 victory.

Lin recently worked his way back into a prominent role in the Rockets rotation by averaging 15.3 points, 4.5 assists and shooting 50.3 percent overall and 39 percent from three point range. He and second-year man Patrick Beverley have alternated as the team's starting point guard.

With the 25-year-old Lin sidelined, the Rockets are expected to turn to veterans Aaron Brooks and Francisco Garcia for more production, according to SBNation. Both players scored 21 points each against Atlanta and shot a combined 16-of-26 from the floor and 7-of-12 from three.

The team added Lin's knee will be re-evaluated in two weeks to see if he can return to action at that point.

After adding center Dwight Howard in summer free agency, the Rockets have jumped out to an 11-5 start and rank fifth among all teams in the Western Conference standings. Coach Kevin McHale has often turned to Lin late in close games as a reliable complement to the the one-two punch of Howard and high-scoring guard James Harden.
