Based on the photos, the Lakers will include drop shadow on their numbers for the first time since 1999. The "Showtime Lakers" uniforms were used by now Lakers president of basketball operations Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, among others.

The "Showtime Lakers" captivated fans with their fast brand of basketball, anchored on Johnson's outstanding playmaking skills, which led to breath-taking passes and highlight plays. Along the way, the "Showtime Lakers" won an astonishing five NBA championships and nine Western Conference banners over a 12-year span.

Lakers Decided To Make Uniform Changes

When James signed a four-year deal worth $154 million in the summer, the Lakers opted to make some changes in their uniforms. However, the Lakers haven't officially unveiled their new look.

With the leak, it looks like the Lakers are coming back to the style of Johnson's era, where the "Showtime Lakers" was born to their exciting brand of basketball. With James in the roster, they expect the superstar to bring the excitement of that era.

According to Pete Blackburn of CBS Sports, the Lakers will unveil their new uniforms on July 30. The new uniforms are expected to fly off the shelves, especially with fans now having an idea on what to expect.

Lakers' 'Showtime' Uniform To Return

Days before Modell's accidental tweet, several reporters have already been predicting the design of the new Lakers' uniform.

When Arash Markazi of ESPN compared the jersey T-shirts of James and Lonzo Ball, he said that the Lakers' traditional "Showtime" font was the noticeable difference. Markazi also posted a photo of Johnson and Kobe Bryant wearing the "Showtime" jerseys and compared them to James' jersey T-shirt.

Based on information he got from sources, uniform guru Conrad Burry of sportslogos.net came up with several designs that were almost similar to the ones leaked by Modell's.
