Jameis Winston Sex Case News: Florida State Star, Heisman Trophy Candidate Had Other Run-Ins With Florida Police [VIDEO]

Florida State star quarterback Jameis Winston has had at least two recent run-ins with local police separate from the sexual assault claims he is now accused of, according to USA TODAY Sports.

In the first case, Winston and several other FSU players were questioned in November of 2012 by police after workers at an apartment complex near Doak Campbell Stadium reported 13 windows were broken during an apparent BB gun battle. Some eight months later, workers at a local Burger King restaurant called police to complain the 19-year-old Winston was allegedly stealing soda.

USA TODAY added the red-shirt freshmen and current Heisman Trophy candidate on the nation's No. 2 ranked team was not arrested or charged in either incident.

Winston is now under investigation by Tallahassee police amid claims made by a now former FSU student that he sexually assaulted her in December of 2012 at an off-campus apartment complex. USA TODAY has previously reported police did not hand over information to prosecutors about the alleged crime until nearly a year after the claims were initially made.

Investigators previously told USA TODAY that their investigation stalled after the alleged victim stopped cooperating with police and led them to believe she no longer wanted to press charges. Defense attorney Tim Jansen claims he was told as far back as February that his client was no longer considered a suspect.

On Wednesday, state attorney Willie Meggs told USA TODAY he doubted the BB gun incident would have much bearing on the current sexual assault investigation.
