Today at 2:45 p.m. ET, Bayer Leverkusen and Manchester United lockup in UEFA Champions League Group A action live from the BayArena in Germany. The game can be live streamed here.
Manchester United boss David Moyes knows it'll be a tough test for his squad on Wednesday when it tries to book a spot in the final 16 of the Champions League. The team enters play knowing a win over Bayer will propel it to the knockout stages with one game to spare. Sami Hyypia's Leverkusen team has won every game at BayArena this season aside from a draw with Bayern Munich last month.
Moyes knows this will prove to be one of his team's toughest tests.
''We have a big job to do,'' Moyes told ESPN. ''Bayer Leverkusen have been in great form at home. My first feeling when I saw the group was that Shakhtar Donetsk away would be a real tough game. It did prove to be that way and we ended up with a draw there. But Leverkusen are in good shape in the group themselves. We know we are going to have a game on our hands."
Manchester will be without defender Nemanja Vidic (concussion) and striker Robin van Persie (groin) for the contest and neither flew over with the team. Midfielders Michael Carrick (Achilles injury) and Marouane Fellaini (suspension) will also be sidelined while Phil Jones (groin) is slated to play.
Leverkusen striker Stefan Kiessling believes his side has done enough to feel confident in their ability to take out Manchester today, despite falling to them 4-2 in September.
''The first time we played them, we showed Manchester United too much respect and were very anxious,'' said Kiessling, who has scored 12 goals in all competitions this season, according to ESPN. ''Since then we have played a lot of good games and achieved some excellent results. At home we are a real force and, don't forget, this is not only an important game for us, it is for them as well.''
Leverkusen looks to continue their home dominance while Manchester United will hope to defeat them again when these teams go head-to-head today.
