Donovan McNabb Defends Robert Griffin III, Predicts Washington Coach Mike Shanahan Will Make RG3 Scapegoat [VIDEO]

Donovan McNabb predicts Washington Redskins coach Mike Shanahan will ultimately seek to make star quarterback Robert Griffin III the scapegoat for the team's poor season.

Following Monday night's 27-6 home beat down at the hands of the San Francisco 49ers, McNabb told reporters he felt Shanahan was refusing to take responsibility for the team's lack of preparedness.

McNabb, a former Pro Bowl quarterback who played one season under Shanahan, later added that such behavior become typical of the coach over the years, claiming he was once a victim of this Shanahan practice.

"There's a scapegoat in every situation, and who's the scapegoat? Robert Griffin," McNabb told CSNWashington.com. "This is something that I've seen, obviously, when I was in Washington and I've been seeing it since I left, at what point as a head coach are you gonna say, 'I need to get the guys prepared. It's my fault. We didn't play well, I'll make sure that we're ready tomorrow,'" McNabb said. "This is something that's been a problem, even since when I was there, when things go wrong."
