Mark Sanchez says he feels "no rush" to return to the gridiron, but whenever he does he wants to do so in a New York Jets uniform.

"I don't want to go anywhere else," Sanchez told The Newark Star-Ledger. "I plan on being here. That's all I'm thinking about, is coming back next year, leading this team and playing well. We'll see what happens."

Sanchez spoke to reporters Tuesday while volunteering at a soup kitchen in nearby Morristown. Tuesday marked two months since Sanchez underwent surgery on his right shoulder to repair a torn labrum.

"It's been awesome," Sanchez said of his rehab. "Today is eight weeks out of surgery. Things are going really well. I'm progressing exactly the way they wanted. Haven't had any hiccups and I'll be back better than ever."

The Jets drafted Sanchez with their top pick in the 2009 draft and based on his lucrative contract through signed 2014 some have speculated that time for the two to part company may have now come. But not if Sanchez has anything to say about it.

"I don't want to go anywhere else," he said. "I plan on being here. That's all I'm thinking about, is coming back next year, leading this team and playing well. We'll see what happens."
