Last year, there was a widespread rumors spreading across online reports that the fourth season of "The Originals" might be the last one. Fans were in obvious anticipating regarding The "Originals" show-runners' decision to either cancel or renew an upcoming season. However, it appears like the "The Originals" Season 5 arrival might be looking positive for now.

According to a report published by The Inquistr, the fourth season of "The Originals" was widely believed to be the last one. Fans were utterly disappointed to imagine watching the last episodes with the Mikaelsons. When The "Originals" Season 4 premiered in March 2016, shortly after, CW network entertainment announced the line-up for what TV shows were coming in the fall. Interestingly, it didn't contain "The Originals" as listed out amongst the categories of other shows. This clearly indicated that there was no show during fall. "The Originals" Season 5 cast is still not confirmed.

Another report published by Blasting News singled out two reasons for why such a thing took place. Firstly, it read, was because CW network entertainment wanted to make their mid-season programming phase strong with the upcoming shows. Moreover, they had the intention of making the fall-season programming extremely powerful as well. With CBS DC Comics Supergirl already in the offing, it seemed highly unlikely that even "The Originals" Season 5 would be added.

The sudden drop of CW's "The Originals" started being more evident. This added to the fear of the fans that the show-runners might not renew the TV series. However, finally, CW President Mark Pedowitz gave some hope. According to another report, Mark Pedowitz had apparently suggested that he wants to see more of "The Originals" and will hopefully see it succeed as well.

He and his team including Julie Plec will begin discussion on whether there should be another season between March and April. Therefore, it is expected that they make the airing official anytime soon. Stay tuned for more "The Originals" Season 5 updates.
