Philadelphia Eagles coach Chip Kelly has tabbed Nick Foles as his starting quarterback for the remainder of the season.
Since replacing the injured Michael Vick, Foles has led the Eagles on a three-game winning streak and into a first-place tie in the NFC East with Dallas at 6-5. Along the way, Foles threw for an NFL record seven touchdowns against Oakland and for the month of November has compiled an overall 152.8 passer rating, the highest rating for a full month in league history.
"I've always believed you need to have one quarterback," Kelly told ESPN. "I want our players to play from a desire to excel, not a fear of failure."
Even the veteran Vick acknowledged last week that Foles should remain the starter after he fully recovers from his hamstring injury. Vick was medically cleared to resume full practices this week.
"They were both fine," Kelly said. "They understand the situation. Mike wants to contribute any way he can. That's the type of guy he is. Great teammate, great leader. He's been great for Nick, in terms of helping him develop. We've got a good situation. We've got two quarterbacks who can win games in the NFL, and you need both of them."
