NBA Rumors: Carmelo Anthony Believes Knicks Will Trade Him This Offseason

The Carmelo Anthony era in New York might be coming to an end this offseason. According to the latest NBA rumors, Anthony believes that he could be traded this offseason and he is open to waiving his no-trade clause.

In an interview with Ian Begley of ESPN after the Knicks' final game of the season against the Philadelphia 76ers, Carmelo Anthony was asked about the possibility of getting traded this summer. He noted that it could finally happen this summer but it's going to all up to him since he has a no-trade clause in the $124 million contract he signed in 2014.

"To be honest with you, I don't know. I'll know more in the upcoming weeks or so. I'm pretty sure the organization has an idea, a thought of what they want to do, how they want to do it. But at this point, it's all on me," Anthony said.

The 32-year-old knows what he wants and that is to win a championship. The Knicks can contend if they can put together a better team next season. However, all signs point to Phil Jackson trading Carmelo Anthony and rebuilding around Kristaps Porzingis.

Carmelo Anthony has no problem with it but he wants Jackson and the Knicks to come at him first before making the decision. The relationship between Anthony and Jackson has been strained and it's better for all parties involved to part ways and move on.

According to ESPN, Carmelo Anthony also had a strained relationship with the Knicks coaching staff. It was revealed that Anthony had an expletive-filled rant during a game last month. He had a reported shouting match with head coach Jeff Hornacek while assistant coach Kurt Rambis fired back at Anthony for not playing defense.

However, it should be noted that these are just purely speculative at the moment and it will become official when Carmelo Anthony is in a different uniform. Some the teams that could acquire Anthony this offseason include the Los Angeles Lakers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers.
