The next WWE pay-per-view is the Monday Night Raw-exclusive event Payback that will take place on April 30 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. The latest WWE rumors imply that the main event of Payback will be Roman Reigns versus Braun Strowman.

According to Cageside Seats, Brock Lesnar appears to be taking some time off and he won't be defending the WWE Universal Championship at Payback. He is not advertised for any Monday Night Raw shows heading into the event, as well as the WWE European Tour in early May.

If this is indeed true, the WWE have to come up with a new main event and it seems like they are going for Roman Reigns going face-to-face with Brauns Strowman again. In this week's episode of Raw, Paul Heyman teased that Brock Lesnar should face Reigns after defeating The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33, per WWE.com.

However, Braun Strowman came out and confronted Brock Lesnar, saying that he wants a shot at the WWE Universal Championship. The "Monster Among Men" noted that he would like to challenge "The Beast" after he gets his revenge on "The Big Dog."

It should be noted that Strowman was in a feud with Reigns before WrestleMania 33. He helped Kevin Owens retain the WWE Universal Championship over "The Guy" at the Royal Rumble before losing to Reigns at Fastlane.

Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc. reported that Roman Reigns vs. Braun Strowman could indeed be the new main event for Payback since Brock Lesnar will not appear on the event. Reigns is the hottest character in the WWE at the moment because he retired The Undertaker.

However, these are just purely speculative at this point and should be taken with a grain of salt. The WWE "Superstar Shake-Up" next week will have a big impact on the plans for Payback. There are rumors suggesting that Roman Reigns could get traded to SmackDown for A.J. Styles to keep him apart from Brock Lesnar until WrestleMania 34.
