Free agent running back LeGarrette Blount is still without a team. LeGarrette Blount's former team, the New England Patriots are still looking for that one power running back that would make their platoon of running backs complete. LeGarrette Blount would definitely help fill that void for the New England Patriots. Except that LeGarrette Blount and the New England Patriots still are not on the same page. Like many other free agents in the NFL that are still without a team, money seems like to the real issue.

According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, LeGarrette Blount wants to return to the New England Patriots but the two sides are still far off in terms of LeGarrette Blount's salary, as reported by 247 Sports. Ian Rapoport also said that the New England Patriots would also like to have LeGarrette Blount back but just couldn't give in to LeGarrette Blount's demand in terms of his salary.

As it is, the New England Patriots signed former Cincinnati Bengals running back Rex Burkhead earlier this off-season to a one-year, $3.1 million contract. LeGarrette Blount, reports say, is also looking for a similar or a higher deal from the New England Patriots.

The New England Patriots are not inclined to spend more than what they've already given Rex Burkhead. If LeGarrette Blount is willing to take less money, the New England Patriots would more than willing to have LeGarrette Blount back. If other NFL teams offer LeGarrette Blount more money, the New England Patriots would also be fine with that.

Aside from LeGarrette Blount, the New England Patriots are also interested in free agent running back Adrian Peterson. The New England Patriots met with Adrian Peterson and put the running through a tryout, according to a report from 247 Sports.

LeGarrette Blount is coming off a career year last season with the New England Patriots. LeGarrette Blount had 299 carries for 1,161 yards and an NFL-high 18 rushing touchdowns.
