What the Miami Dolphins wants, the Miami Dolphins get. Not even an eight-game suspension. It looks like the impending eight-game suspension this season of free agent safety T.J. McDonald is still not enough to scare away the Miami Dolphins.

The Miami Dolphins announced on Friday that they've signed former St. Louis Rams free agent safety T.J. McDonald despite the fact that he will be suspended for eight games this upcoming NFL season, according to a report from ESPN. The report said that the deal T.J. McDonald signed with the Miami Dolphins was a one-year contract only.

T.J. McDonald's suspension was just recently announced by the NFL last Wednesday, via a report from ESPN. The suspension was a result of T.J. McDonald's arrest in California in May last year.

T.J. McDonald was charged with driving under the influence (DUI) of prescription drugs. Just last January, T.J. McDonald pleaded guilty to a lesser charge. As a result of the guilty plea, T.J. McDonald won't be facing any jail time. He may have escaped being put behind bars but not the NFL.

The NFL still decided to suspend T.J. McDonald for eight games next season as he violated the NFL Policy and Program for Substance Abuse. According to T.J McDonald, the Miami Dolphins knew about the impending eight-game suspension during their talks.

T.J. McDonald, 26, said that before the suspension was announced, he knew about it. The NFL just made it public.

"I've known about the suspension. It was just announced publicly," T.J. McDonald said. "I've known about it. I wasn't trying to get over on the Dolphins and I think they know that as well. It was just something that I'm definitely paying the price for the mistakes that I've made, that I'm definitely going to own up to."

T.J. McDonald was selected by the St. Louis Rams in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft. During his four seasons with the St. Louis Rams, T.J. McDonald started in all 53 games.
