Michael Beasley is playing some of the best basketball of his life. It's just that thus far it's been before a limited audience.
Beasley is averaging 11.6 points and 2.8 rebounds in just over 17 minutes of action. According to the SportingNews.com, that computes to averages of 25.1 points and 5.6 rebounds over 36 minutes.
"That's Michael Beasley," Dwyane Wade told Sporting News of the volatile forward who joined the Heat this summer after burning all his bridges in Phoenix. "He's a scorer. He's a guy who knows how to find a way to get to that basket and get buckets. It's great for this team."
Beasley's tour with the Heat marks his second in South Beach and each time Wade has had a front row seat. Wade served as Beasley's mentor during his first two seasons in Miami, when he averaged 14 points and 5.4 rebounds
This time the All-Star guard has the aide of reigning league MVP LeBron James. And his voice is proving to be just as persistent in Beasley's ear.
"I'm staying on him to him," James recently told reporters. "We didn't bring him to be a passer. Beas is a great scorer and that's what he does best. Obviously, we want to continue to make the extra pass--- we don't want him to get in iso situations. That's not how we play. That's not how we play. But when he has an open look, we want him to go ahead."
