Google's Chrome operating system has been around for quite some time. Now recently the search giant appears to have launched a newly-updated version of its OS dubbed Chrome OS 57 for its users.

According to a report published by Digital Trends, the recently-announced Chrome OS 57 comes equipped with two primary improvements that is especially targeted to users who prefer using 2-in-1 gadgets. In other words, the new update will prove beneficial especially to those users who utilise Chromebooks. The first Chromebook was launched back in May, 2011 and ever since has been successful in low-cost PC market segment.

Talking about the features that come along in the newly-updated version, the first one essentially enables the power button to be used as controlling the display off and on functions. The power button function can now be used to turn the display off on devices that come with the tablet-mode support.

On the other hand, the second update allows users to switch to user-interface mode in the Chrome camera app for devices with front and rear cameras. While these come across as minute details that have been updated, it sure is a great addition for those users who use the Chromebook or the 2-in-1 gadgets.

Another report published by 9 to 5 Google details out the rest of the updated functions that come in the latest version. The update apparently includes other fixes such as the ability to turn the silent authentication mode on, the ability to unlock any Chromebook using only a PIN, the ability to use the File app to access media files directly from apps, and other bug fixes.

Users must note that the update: Chrome OS 57.0.2987.123 will not be available immediately. The latest version will be rolled out gradually from the device model to device model.
