Will Muschamp's ouster as head coach at the University of Florida no longer seems to be as much a question of "if" as it is of "how soon."

The calendar 2013 year has been a nightmare for the Gators coach. It started with a stunning, 33-23 loss to Louisville in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 2. It has continued through the 2013 season, culminating with Saturday's 26-20 loss to Georgia Southern.

After starting the season 4-1, Florida has lost six straight to guarantee its first losing season since 1979. And its loss to Eagles was the school's first-ever to a Football Championship Subdivision opponent.

"At the end of the day, you take ownership with where we are. Nobody needs to point a finger right now. It's time to look in the mirror," Muschamp said during his postgame news conference. "I've told them that several times this season. Regardless of situation and circumstances we need to produce better. That starts with me. So that's what we'll do."

Many Florida fans are ready for a transfer of ownership of the program, expressing on Twitter their dismay with the third-year Gators coach and his 22-15 record, which the Miami Herald pointed out is one game worse than former Florida coach Ron Zook.

Al.com posted some of the Gators fans' tweets on its site:

From Sean Tomlian (@STomlian): "Embarrassed to be a Florida football fan right now. Sorry Muschamp but you're done. Stay strong though Gator Nation #InAllKindsOfWeather"

From Ellen Barker (@in 922010): "I'm not ashamed to be a Gator Fan, I'm ashamed the University ever hired Will Muschamp #FireMuschamp"

And from Donnie Lowe (@donnieloweofc): "Man we couldn't even beat Georgia Southern. Sad day to be a gator fan. Please get rid of Muschamp."

The Gators' season finale is next week against No. 2 Florida State in Gainesville, where the Gators lost this week. Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley likely would not want to cause unnecessary distractions by firing his coach before a big rivalry game, but it's safe to say Muschamp would face as much scrutiny as he ever has, should the Gators lose again.
