The "Elder Scrolls 6" is still a long way off but that didn't stop fans from speculating on what the sequel will bring. It's a testament to the anticipation the game will bring and it's why rumors are all over the internet. One of the rumors suggests that the next game in the series will actually be launched on the next console generation.
According to Gaming Bolt, the next game could benefit more if the "Elder Scrolls 6" will be released on the next console generation such as the PlayStation 5. The new console generation will provide an exponential increase in the current generation in which a game like "Elder Scrolls" could greatly take advantage off. And with the current trend of open-world games, "Elder Scrolls 6" needs to be something bigger and massive.
"The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" was released at the end of the last console generation. As a result, the game was able to use the full extent of the hardware at the time. It created a huge world that fans spent hundreds of hours to explore. "Elder Scrolls 6" could do the same with the current generation but could provide a better experience if it waited for the next console.
Moreover, if "Elder Scrolls 6" waited for the next generation of consoles, it would have more power to support VR capabilities. Bethesda is already developing VR tech for "Fallout 4." It wouldn't be surprising to see the next Elder Scrolls to do the same.
However, "Elder Scrolls 6" could still be released in conjunction with the current consoles if it did release with the next generation. It is similar to what "Destiny" did in the early stage of the Playstation 4 as it was also available for the PS3. But the problem with that, however, is that it will be tied down with an older tech and as such wouldn't be able to leverage the new console's full potential.
But one thing that is certain for "Elder Scrolls 6" will be a long way off. Bethesda's Todd Howard himself has said that it will be a while before "Elder Scrolls 6" will be released. Then again, if "Elder Scrolls 6" turns out to be better than the last entry, fans wouldn't mind the long wait.
