Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET on ESPN3 the Kansas Jayhawks (3-0) will look to remain unbeaten when they take the Allen Fieldhouse court to face the Towson Tigers (3-1) on ESPN3 in NCAA basketball action that can be live streamed here free. Listen to the Towson radio broadcast on WBAL 1090, while Kansas' broadcast can be heard on KJHK 90.7 FM.
The Jayhawks are fielding an impressive collection of talent this season and are expected to figure prominently in the chase for a national title, but head coach Bill Self is fretting a little about his team's defense. Iona sank six 3-pointers in the first half which is not expected against a team the caliber of Kansas.
"We didn't come ready to play in the first half at all," Self said. "If you don't play with great energy, it is hard to play good defense. We came out better in the second half. We did some good things."
While Andrew Wiggins grabs the headlines, sophomore Perry Ellis continues to produce on a Wiggins level, leading the team in scoring with 19 points per game, and is tied with center Joel Embiid for the team lead in rebounds at eight per game.
Self said his development is coming along nicely. "He'll look good some days, he won't look as good some days," Self said. "He's smart. He gets it. He's figuring things out all the time. I'm real pleased with his development."
Tonight's game against the Tigers is not being taken lightly by Self, who is on full upset alert. "They are really good," Self said. "They can score. Next to Duke, this will be the best team we have played."
Jerrelle Benimon is the most lethal of the Tigers' scorers right now, giving Towson 17.5 points a night to go with a tick under 12 boards.
