Jeremy Lin was out with a right ankle injury on Tuesday when the Brooklyn Nets hosted the Detroit Pistons at the Barclays Center. The Nets were able to put a dent on the Pistons' hope of making the playoffs by getting the big win.

Brooklyn was missing Jeremy Lin for the game after suffering a right ankle sprain on Sunday against the Dallas Mavericks. He landed on the foot of Mavs point guard J.J. Barea and he was ruled day-to-day with the injury, per Newsday. The Nets were just being cautious since Lin missed 44 games with a right hamstring strain.

"Just day-to-day, nothing serious. I'm encouraged. Even Sunday, I was encouraged, too. It was just an ankle tweak thing and not like a hamstring or anything like that. Obviously, a lot of it is to see how it responds, which I guess is more of the tricky part," Lin said.

The Nets went toe-to-toe with the Pistons despite the absence of Jeremy Lin. They held their own against a Detroit team that has hopes to make the playoffs. Brook Lopez led the Nets with 29 points and seven rebounds, per NBA.com.

Lopez also hit the game-winning, buzzer-beating jump shot to give the Nets a 98-96 win. It was the team's 14th win of the season and they are looking to finish the season strong. Hopefully, Jeremy Lin will return before the end of the regular season.

Spence Dinwiddie, who started in place of Jeremy Lin, had 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Rookie swingman Caris LeVert continues to play like a franchise cornerstone with 15 points and two rebounds.

Archie Goodwin and K.J. McDaniels combined for 22 points off the Nets bench where Jeremy Lin was cheering the team. Tobias Harris had 24 points and five rebounds for the Pistons while Andre Drummond put up a double-double with 13 points and 17 rebounds.

The Pistons are now a game behind Miami Heat for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. As for Jeremy Lin, he has two days to recover in order to play the Nets' next game on Thursday against the Phoenix Suns at home.
