Howard is 5-6-6 with a 2.64 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage thus far this season.
Carolina got its goalie back Monday when Cam Ward returned to the crease for the first time since being sidelined with a groin injury, but the team lost 4-1 to the Boston Bruins.
"It felt really good to get back in the net. Dealing with injuries is not an easy thing. I hate losing, but in the second and third periods, I felt a lot better about my game," Ward said after the game, according to NHL.com.
Ward is 2-3-3 this season with a 2.84 GAA and a .910 save percentage so far this season.
