Dana White and the UFC are the only obstacles that may stop the fight between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor. But recent comments by the UFC's president may signify a shift in negotiating power. The Irishman is still under contract with the UFC but that may not be enough to stop the "Notorious."

There's no doubt that the fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will be the biggest fight since the Mayweather-Pacquiao fight. It's PPV sales will surpass the 1 million mark and may come close to the world record. Then again, McGregor is still a UFC fighter who in under contract with the organization. Dana White still has absolute control over McGregor's next fights.

Dana White affirmed his control when he told the Telegraph that it would be foolish to let the fight between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather to take place. He adds that the UFC built McGregor and thus the promotion is owed a portion of the sales. Then again, McGregor operates in his own way regardless of the UFC's contract.

Conor McGregor's rise as the UFC's biggest fighter allowed him to control the promotion, unlike any fighter. "The Notorious" was able to dictate his fights and the sales of the UFC with his off-stage antics and devastating fighting ability. Conor McGregor has done everything there is to do as an MMA fighter and other opportunities like a fight with Floyd Mayweather are more promising. Dana White is slowly losing control over Conor McGregor as he has proven to be bigger than the UFC.

Dana White's recent comments as reported by Bloody Elbow prove his waning power over the fight. According to the president, he would allow Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather to fight in a boxing ring which is a far cry to his previous statements. There's too much money involved in the fight and if someone has to bow down in order for it to take place, that man would have to be Dana White.
